Investors Say Yes to Merger with Renewable Energy Company

After more than a year of preparations, the green light has now been given for the merger into Renewable Energy Company A/S. At extraordinary general meetings held in September, investors in Fund 1, Stabil, and the Impact Fund voted in favor of a merger between the three funds, which will receive assets and selected competencies from Obton A/S.

This means the merger into Renewable Energy Company A/S can now move forward, and the parties can begin the next phase: combining their efforts into a unified, integrated energy company.

“The vote shows that investors have rallied around a common path forward. We have chosen to take control of our investments ourselves, and we can now focus on creating improvements and ensuring a solid, stable business. The foundation has been laid, preparations are complete, and we are ready to get started immediately, says Michael Nymann Nilsson, Chairman of the Board of Obton Solenergi Master Impact A/S.

Bringing everything together in one company

Renewable Energy Company will have a portfolio consisting of solar parks and energy projects primarily across Europe and Japan. It will consolidate assets, operational and administrative expertise, as well as financing, into a single entity. The ambition is to create a company with stronger negotiating power, greater resilience, and better opportunities for operational optimization and value creation.

“It is incredibly encouraging to see the broad support from investors across all three funds. By bringing our strengths together in one company, we gain new and improved opportunities in a market that today demands something very different from what we saw when the funds were originally established. I look forward to realizing the potential together and building a strong and future-proof company,” says Sandra Grauers Nilsson, who will assume the role of CEO of Renewable Energy Company.

Sandra Grauers Nilsson has been brought in specifically to lead the new company. She brings many years of experience from significant leadership roles at the major Swedish energy company Vattenfall and, most recently, as CEO of the energy storage company Eku Energy. She will be joined in the executive team by CFO Søren Strøm, who brings extensive experience from CFO roles at companies such as Inpay, Stibo Group, Simcorp, and Maersk Line, as well as a long career as a partner at EY.

Renewable Energy Company will manage energy parks with a total capacity of approximately 1.2 GW and an organization consisting of 150 employees across offices in seven different countries.
