Experienced Energy Executive appointed as new CEO of Obton A/S
As part of an ambitious strategic shift aimed at making Obton A/S one of the market's leading owners and developers of solar energy, the company has appointed a new CEO.
Obton are working with Shannon Energy to deliver more than 1 GW of renewable energy in Ireland in the next five years.
Our goal is to assemble a diverse portfolio of projects that will provide a supply of solar-generated electricity for many years to come.
In july 2020 we reached an important milestone when we were awarded our first 11 projects in the Government of Ireland’s Renewable Electricity Support Scheme (RESS).
This will provide a total of 118 MWp of solar energy to be erected in the next 1-2 years. These solar farms will be able to power approximately 20,000 homes across Ireland.
Obton and Shannon Energy was awarded 11 Solar Park Projects for the first RESS (Renewable Energy Support Scheme) Auction held in July 2020. Construction is planned to begin in Q1 2021.
The projects are situated in eight counties throughout Ireland, with sites located in Wexford, Waterford, Cork, Longford, Galway, Offaly, Meath and Tipperary.
The combined 118 MW of power generated will be enough to fulfil the yearly energy requirements of up to 20,000 households.
It is expected that more than 200 jobs will be created in the construction of the solar photovoltaic (PV) technology on approximately 400 acres.
